Story time at the library was crazy today. Lots of kids, most of them cranky. Alex was all over the place - more than usual. She was in and out of the story room, but we yet again skipped the actual story part of story time. There was a lot of that going around.
A little boy we often see but whose name escapes me was there today, and he was also only in the mood to play with blocks, chalk and puzzles. He got a little punchy when Alex attempted a puzzle take-over and bopped her on the head. She didn't notice. His grandmother did, and I think she was horrified. How shocking that a two year old would hit another kid over a toy!
Alex found the Spongebob section of the library - all the episodes in book form right next to the kiddy keyboards! Oh boy! I'm sensing a theme with the last few days here.....Anyway, out of all the thousands of books she could grab, she found those. She was a very happy camper.
After the library, we've been just hanging out at home, wishing it was warm enough to go outside. She revealed to me the ability to say "dragon" repeatedly. Apparently "Cinder the Bubble-Blowing Dragon" has had a profound effect on her vocabulary.
Having a profound effect on my vocabulary was Alex's discovery that cat litter in a litter box is a lot like sand in a sand box. Oh dear. Yes, she was sifting litter through her fingers this afternoon. All over the floor too, as if it wasn't icky enough already. Thankfully, she only played with the "clean" stuff - way more sanitary than the poop she played with the other day - so minimal frantic scrubbing was required. It's so neat how she discovers new things every day. :l
Well, her nap has gone on forever, allowing me to make a batch of brownies and to test them thoroughly for goodness. They're pretty good, but might require additional testing just to make sure.
