Alex had a fabulous day with Grannie, Grampie, Auntie Lu and Uncle Adam. I have to say one of my favorite parts of the day was watching her snuggle face to face with Adam - too cute. And she had a great time being a monkey with Auntie Lu, even if she doesn't have the hand motions down just yet. Or the sounds, but hey, she tried!!!
What she also tried was the pork and sauerkraut. That didn't go so well either. She made a pinchy face and kind of shook it off. Then tried it again many times (lunch and dinner - gotta pile on the luck!) and generally just spit it all out. But Daddy came to the rescue with extra-buttery mashed potatoes, always a favorite of hers. So today, if Alex was what she ate, she'd be an animal cracker with mashed potatoes. Yum?
Overall, though, her second New Year's Day was very exciting for her, and she got in some great extended family time.
Oh, and last night was her intro to Uncle Mike's NYE party. She pilfered many, many grapes from the table. Dad gave her a strawberry that she took one bite from and then carried in a death grip until we wrestled it from her warm, sticky hand so she wouldn't get it all over Mike's house. Then Trevor, Josh and Theresa showed up, and after a bit of an acclimation process for Trevor, good times were had by all. While Trevor and Alex still haven't had their first dance, there's still a chance we'll get to see them sway back and forth in close proximity to each other at the same time. For now, Trevor chooses to quake in fear at the mere presence of our oh-so-intimidating daughter. He might outweigh her by 15 pounds, but she's scrappy. Don't mess with the baby in pony tails, she will mess you up good.
